Maria Rivas-Wolf, LMFT is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 16 years of experience providing therapy to individuals, couples, and adolescents. She supports clients seeking help with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, parenting stress, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm, including adolescents and parents navigating behavioral and emotional difficulties, as well as those facing more complex reproductive and maternal mental health concerns.
Maria takes a warm, collaborative, and evidence-based approach to therapy, integrating mindfulness-based strategies and cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients better understand their emotional patterns, build coping skills, and create meaningful, sustainable change. She tailors treatment to each client’s needs and strives to create a therapy space that feels grounded, compassionate, and nonjudgmental.
Maria has specialized expertise in reproductive and maternal mental health. She has worked in hospital and academic medical settings, including El Camino Hospital’s Maternal Outreach and Mood Services (MOMS) program and Stanford Fertility and Reproductive Health, supporting individuals and couples through infertility, pregnancy loss, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. This experience has shaped her ability to provide grounded, compassionate care in moments of high stress, grief, and uncertainty.
Maria also provides psychological consultations and assessments for individuals and families pursuing third-party reproduction, including egg donation, sperm donation, and gestational carrier arrangements.
She serves on the Executive Committee of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s Mental Health Professional Group and is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and Postpartum Support International.
Maria offers in-office therapy in the San Francisco Bay Area and telehealth services for clients located in California and Oregon.
